The Alpine is a hardy, adaptable dairy goat breed from the Alps, known for high milk production and a wide variety of colors and patterns, often with French names like cou blanc or chamoisee. They have erect ears, a straight or slightly dished face, and are medium to large in size, making them popular for both commercial and homestead dairy farming. American Alpines, developed in the U.S., are often larger and sturdier than their French counterparts.
